Babies were bred and engineered to become the most desirable "players", if one could call it that. Judges became so acute at deciding who won and who lost that tournaments happened in seconds, and results uploaded in less. Why bother with deciding afterwards and wasting time when the match could be decided before it began? Thus, referees decided who won and who lost automatically using a combination of facial recognition AI, mandatory reflex tests, and standardized quizzes and tests on military tactics and stratagem. Tournaments became complex games of rock-paper-scissors, and eventually another epiphany was had. The community realized that gameplay no longer mattered, and only the character.

It began when some questioned the idea of matchups against characters. No longer are matches decided through complex inputs and tactics. Competitive Super Smash Bros Melee has reached its zenith. Soon, humanity ceased to think, and became mindless slaves to the autonomous ones and zeroes that decided their worth, ironically becoming the machines they once played with. It was named for a Melee inside joke: that in the year 20xx, Fox is the only viable character left, so nobody plays anyone else. No longer are matches decided through complex inputs and tactics. Instead of loading up Melee normally, 20XXTE would replace the game.

20xx melee joke mod#
Stage hazards and transformations can be disabled, stage striking, longer nicknames, and a “taunt battle” are also planned to be included in the mod when it releases in November 2015. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the ability for players to take control over a replay, allowing fans to act out various scenarios. In addition, hitboxes can be toggled on and off, allowing players to see just how close they were to landing that attack. For starters, the speed at which the gameplay is replayed at is fully controllable by the player. The system has a couple of other unique tricks up its’ sleeves.

The replay is stored within the temporary game memory, and can be easily transferred to a memory card, and later a computer. Players who simply insert a memory card with the files on it, will be instantly ready to use the variety of features that this modification includes. 20XX Tournament Edition will run on any unmodded Gamecube or Wii. Dan Salvato, a developer working on 20XX Tournament Edition for Melee, has recently announced that a replay feature will be included in the upcoming mod.
